X-Celeprint Adopts BluGlass’ RPCVD p-GaN to Achieve Micro LED Display Prototypes

Australian semiconductor technology developer, BluGlass, announced that its Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (RPCVD) p-GaN technology has been adopted by X-Celeprint, a micro-transfer printing company, to develop Micro LED display prototypes.

By implementing BluGlass’s RPCVD p-GaN technology, X-Celeprint’s active matrix Micro LED displays demonstrated good luminance with color uniformity, quantum efficiency and forward voltage that equal current high-performance commercial applications of 2000 nits.

X-Celeprint as a developer of micro-transfer printing (μTP) technology has showcased a 5.1-inch full-color Micro LED display at SID 2018. μTP is a cost-effective and scalable manufacturing platform for integrating microscale devices such as lasers, LEDs or integrated circuits onto non-native substrates.

BluGlass is commercializing a breakthrough semiconductor technology called Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (RPCVD) in the global LED, Micro LED and power electronics industries. BluGlass’ patented hardware and processes offers manufacturers unique performance advantages due to RPCVD’s low temperature and low hydrogen growth conditions.
