Why Using LED Interior Lights Is Beneficial

The purpose of interior vehicle lights is to illuminate the cabin of the vehicle at night to help you see better and find items. They allow you to see important things inside the vehicle such as a road map, making sure that you grab the hot coffee cup correctly so it does not spill, finding that stubborn piece of paper that fell between the seats, and much more. Some vehicles utilize multiple interior lights to provide light and some only use one or two inside the car; an example would be the BMW 7-series sedan or a SUV or van versus a two-seater coupe such as a Nissan 350z or Honda S2000. Incandescent halogen bulbs are typically used in these applications and serve their purpose well. Certain luxury brands such as Acura and Lexus have factory LED interior lights which are much brighter and attractive to the eye than halogen bulbs are; Since not every vehicle has this luxury, replacement LED lights are available for the interior lights.

The most common upgrade that is available to car enthusiasts is the LED replacement light. LED stands for light-emitting diode which is a semiconductor that produces light when electricity is introduced. They are small and very compact and can often replace most factory bulbs with ease or even replace the bulb with a larger panel. LED lights offer much more lumen output per wattage power consumed making them much more efficient at converting electricity into visible light output. They are also more reliable than regular filament bulbs due to the fact that there are no moving parts or components that disintegrate over time; LED lights often last up to 50,000 hours in ideal working conditions. In addition to having all these benefits, LEDs are also available in various colors and shades which can add that unique touch to the interior lights of the vehicle. Since halogen bulbs are only available in the dull, yellow glow, LED lights can be produced in various colors such as bright white, warm white, blue, green, red, UV (ultra violet), and much more! There are three common ways to achieve a brighter output inside the car; starting from bright to brightest there are: the replacement LED bulb, LED panel, and exact fit LED panel.

A replacement LED bulb is a direct replacement of the factory incandescent one and requires no modification as long as the correct part is chosen. Replacement LED bulbs are very easy to install and only require knowledge of how to gain access to the factory bulb to replace it. These lights are also quite inexpensive and are available in multiple colors. These types of lights for the interior are the easiest and most common way to achieve the LED look for your vehicles interior. However, there are downsides to this type of light since LED light output and coverage is directly related to how it is positioned and designed.

Since there is only so much room inside the housing of many interior lights, this brings us to the next type of LED light which is the LED panel. LED panels are PCB boards with LED diodes that are arranged evenly across which are then installed inside the interior light housing. Since LED panels are larger and have LED diodes spread across evenly, they provide a much larger surface area for light output. There are universal LED panels which are available in various sizes for different housing sizes.

Last, but not least there are the exact or direct fit LED panel lights which are vehicle specific. Since not all vehicles have the same type of housing shape for the interior lights, a universal LED panel may not be available in the size and shape that you need. Vehicle specific LED panel lights are designed and created with a specific housing shape in mind. These type of lights are typically able to provide much more light output and coverage than a traditional LED replacement and panel type light.

All in all, which type of LED interior light you go with, it is still an upgrade over the dull and dim factory incandescent halogen bulbs. For most consumers, the standard LED replacement bulb is already the perfect solution to their lighting woes. However, for the consumers who want brighter lights, there are options to choose the universal or exact fit LED panel lights for their cars. There are many choices to select from and it may seem daunting to pick one on your own so it is always a great idea to consult with the seller first before purchasing as they can give you insight on what you should get for your vehicle.
