Touch Taiwan to Highlight Mini and Micro LED Applications with AUO and Innolux Presenting Innovative Applications


The annual Display International Touch Taiwan is taking place this week with exhibitors from all over the world showcasing their latest developments in display technology.

Taiwan-based panel makers AUO and Innolux are both showing their innovative display products at the show including Mini LED backlight display, Micro LED displays and more.

AUO announced that it will unveil several new display technologies covering Mini LED backlit 8K TVs as well as gaming monitors, notebook panels and VR wearable displays adopting Mini LED backlight technology. Mini LED backlight technology enables high color contrast with more than 1,000 dimming zones. The brightness of 2,000 nits further improves the quality of display performance. In addition, AUO highlights the high refresh rate of its display products, the panels featuring 144Hz refresh rate allow smooth and seamless dynamic image display.

In addition, AUO will also present displays for wearable VR devices and automotive displays. The AM Mini LED based VR display with 2,304 dimming zone can deliver a resolution of 1,688 ppi. As for automotive display, AUO is showcasing a 12.3-inch LTPS curved display adopting Mini LED backlight and a 12.1-inch Micro LED cluster display.

The Micro LED display achieves a pixel density of 169 ppi with Micro LEDs less than 30 um in size, and advances color conversion technologies with over NTSC 100% wide color gamut.

On the other hand, Innolux is showcasing a 110-inch AM Mini LED based public information display (PID) and two Mini LED backlit 8K TVs. The company has begun Mini LED product shipment since June 2019 and is building partnership with Sharp and other brands to break into 8K+5G ecosystem.
