Toshiba Lighting & Technology Corporation announced that it will close its Numazu factory in Shizuoka Ken which produces LED lighting equipment and lighting control by March 2019, reported Nikkei.

Toshiba Lighting will transfer the current 235 employees at the Numazu factory to the Kanuma factory in Tochigi Ken to concentrate its production and improve production efficiency.
Toshiba Lighting has been an important regional player in the LED lighting market in Japan. As the Japanese government has banned halogen bulbs in 2012, the penetration rate of LED lighting in Japan has reached 77 percent in 2017, which is the highest in the world.
