Signify presented its cutting-edge technologies in lighting and optical communication in “Signify innovation Day” in Taipei, Taiwan. The lighting company showcased its latest developments in connected lighting, Interact IoT platform, horticulture lighting and LiFi at the event, demonstrating the current trends in the global lighting industry.
The world’s largest lighting company changed its name from Philips Lighting to Signify in May 2018, marking a transforming milestone for the Dutch company. John Wang, Senior Vice President of Signify and President of Greater China Signify, addressed that in the year of 2018, Signify has successfully moved from a LED lighting producer to a connected smart lighting system provider and achieved its sustainable goal.

One of its achievements was the launch of Interact IoT Platform, which provides a standardized system for smart applications connecting LED lighting, sensors, software to collect and process data for improving the efficiency of space usage and boosting productivity for users. Eric Yu, Vice President of Signify and General Manager of Signify Taiwan, highlighted how the Interact plays a critical role to support various smart functions in the IoT era. World famous landmarks including London Eye, Taipei 101 and more were all illuminated and efficiently monitored with the system.

Signify also showcased its development in LiFi at the event, addressing the security and reliable features of this state-of-the-art technology. The company has cooperated with worldwide customers to pilot LiFi connection and sees great potential of the technology as connection has become indispensable in modern society. “LiFi makes light a new intelligent language,” said Ed Huibers, Head of Business Development Signify LiFi Systems.

Horticulture lighting is another focus of Signify. The company not only develops lighting solutions; it also cooperates with research institutes to discover the secrets of light for different plants, providing “light recipe” for growers with different crops. Signify provided Philips GreenPower LEDs to Prime Delica, delicatessen supplier of Japan’s 7-Eleven, for its vertical farm facility to grow vegetables for the salad products sold at the convenience stores.
