New and Innovative Ways LED’s Are Changing Our Lives For The Better

Every day of the year, there is some city or town in the world that is changing over to LED lights for their street lights. The city of Columbus, Ohio is considering replacing their streetlight system with LED lights. Officials estimate that the lights will save the city at least $1 million dollars a year in electricity costs. That’s not to mention the cost savings in maintenance since LED’s require less maintenance overall than traditional streetlights. The lights are also brighter.

For many holidays and special events, you may have seen different buildings and bridges being lit up with different colored lights to match the occasion. For example, the Empire State Building has lights at the top which are always changing. For Christmas, it is green and red. For the 4th of July, it is blue and red. For World AIDS day, it is red. For Earth Day, it is green. When a terrible tragedy happens around the world, whether a terrorist attack, earthquake or other disaster happens, many cities around the world change the colors of their bridges or buildings to honor that city or country which was affected. People love this ability to change colors of city building and landmarks on a whim, and in most cases it is being done with LED lights.

Another area of great innovation in the LED light niche is the home. Inside the home, you’ll find that LED’s have invaded just about every area of the home. One of the hottest products on the Internet right now is under-bed LED lighting. This amazing and handy invention is great for kids, seniors and anyone else who needs a little light to make their way to the bathroom at night. These lights are motion activated, so when you sit up in your bed and put your feet down on the floor, the lights automatically detect that and turn on. These are great for saving power since you don’t need to leave a light on all night. They are also great for safety, as any obstacles on the floor near your bed will be lit up so you won’t trip over them. They are also great for not disturbing your partner while they are sleeping. It may also improve your sleep since a dark room is better for your sleep than one with some light, even if it is something as small as a nightlight.
