Job Opportunity: DiiA General Manager — LED professional

Job Description

The Digital Illumination Interface Alliance (DiiA) is an open, global consortium of lighting companies that aims to grow the market for lighting-control solutions based on Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) technology. DiiA is a not-for-profit organization, and a Partner Program of IEEE-ISTO.

The DiiA General Manager (GM) is responsible for day-to-day management of the Alliance, which currently has more than 160 member companies globally. The GM acts as the formal point of contact between the Alliance and the individual members, and also represents the organization to the outside.

The GM is responsible for financial management of the Alliance, including preparation of budgets, financial reporting, and collection of membership fees.

The GM ensures that the Alliance has sufficient staff resources to carry out its program objectives, subject to the agreed budget. The GM role includes line management of Alliance staff, for example the Technical & Certification Manager and the Marketing Communications Manager.

The GM reports to the Board of Directors (BoD), which is the chief executive body of the Alliance. The GM organizes regular BoD meetings, both in person and via teleconference. The GM prepares the agenda and materials for these meetings, chairs the meeting, and provides minutes to the BoD.

The GM manages DiiA’s relationship with IEEE-ISTO, an organization that provides the legal framework and financial and administration services to the Alliance.

The GM is responsible for approving and signing contracts and membership agreements, and for approving invoices to be paid by IEEE-ISTO.

The GM manages legal aspects of the Alliance, including trademark registration and enforcement. Legal advice and maintenance of the trademark portfolio is provided via a contract with an external law firm.

The GM initiates and manages liaisons with other standardisation bodies for the benefit of the Alliance in line with its objectives.

The GM is under contract with IEEE-ISTO, and the contract is managed by the DiiA BoD. Based on experience of the current GM, this function requires 2 to 3 days effort per week.
