Innoviz and Robosense Receive CES 2019 Award for Their LiDAR Technology

Serving as a key technology in the development of autonomous vehicle, LiDAR has gained increasing attentions from the industry with more and more companies continually advancing their LiDAR technology development. Two LiDAR companies, Innoviz and Robosense, announced that their cutting-edge LiDAR solutions have been honored with CES 2019 Innovation Awards.

Chinese LiDAR company RoboSense said that its RS-IPLS Intelligent Perception LiDAR System was named as a CES 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree which was released during CES Unveiled New York on November 8, 2018. The event was held for exhibitors and industry leaders for a sneak peek of the products and trends expected at CES 2019, which will take place during January 8-11, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Israeli LiDAR developer Innoviz was also awarded with Best of Innovation at the event with its InnovizOne automotive-grade solid-state LiDAR and Computer Vision software.

RoboSense’s RS-IPLS system is based on high-performance MEMS solid-state LiDAR with the highest resolution color point cloud data created by merging the underlying 2D imagery hardware with the unique RoboSense RS-LiDAR-Algorithm deep learning sensing algorithm developed specifically for autonomous driving. In October 2018, RoboSense obtained $45 million in strategic financing from Alibaba’s Cainiao network and some of China’s top OEMs. RoboSense has adhered to its underlying core technology innovations, from chips to LiDAR sensors, to intelligent sensor systems that incorporate AI aware algorithms. RoboSense maintains strong innovation capabilities and continues to lead the industry.

Meanwhile, InnovizOne provides the superior depth perception necessary for Levels 3 – 5 of autonomous driving. The product will be deployed by BMW as part of its autonomous vehicles program beginning in 2021. Combined with Innoviz’s software which is able to detect, classify, and track and localized objects, the data collected by LiDAR and 3D point cloud can be turned into meaningful driving decisions.

The company has expanded its presence in the U.S., China, Japan and Europe with partnerships with Tier 1 solution providers including Aptiv, Magna International, HiRain Technologies and Samsung HARMAN.
