How to test PL9823 (data in/out rgb) LEDs? : led

Do what they are doing in the videos?

Get a breadboard, hook up the VDD to 5v, GDD to ground and use some arduino + FastLED to send your data to the DIN pin. To make sure the DO is working, hook it up the the DIN of another LED (or to test a bunch at a time).
Let some demo program run through a rainbow or R, G, B.
