Selecting an appropriate light is very vital for the growth of the plant. Compact fluorescent lights are available in the market with both the cool and warm versions to opt for. The lights should be fixed around 10 to 12 inches above the plant in case of clones and seeds.

You can easily place these lights on top of the plants at a distance between 1 to 4 inches, as it emits little heat. Make sure to replace the fluorescent grow lights ever month because dirt and dust can reduce the amount of light produced. When the end of the light darkens, it's an indication for replacement. You should put your hand where the light touches the plants, and if you sense any warmth, then the light is too close. Every plant requires different intensity, color and duration of light for proper growth. You can buy standard, compact, and high output fluorescent grow lights according to your needs.
