Everlight to Transform Taipei into a Smart City with its Smart Street Lights

Cities worldwide are preparing themselves to enter the new age of IoT (Internet of Thing) through the installation of smart streetlights and the capital of Taiwan, Taipei is no exception. Taipei city has been working with Everlight, the Taiwanese LED package giant and LED lighting producer, to replace the conventional streetlights with LED smart streetlights and to integrate with different solution providers for constructing a smart city for the future.

The LED streetlights supplied by Everlight feature a luminous efficacy of 120 lm/W, which is higher than the 100 lm/W standard demanded by Taipei city. Everlight also provided its smart streetlight named “Victory” featuring a luminous efficacy of 140 lm/W and energy saving features. The project of LED street lighting installation includes the employment of Everlight’s smart lamp posts which offer various functions such as interactive information display, wireless and wired charging, and smart control system. The installation of LED streetlights is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2018.

Everlight has also cooperated with telecom operators, software developers and many other firms to collect data and to offer holistic solutions for the integration of street lighting, traffic monitoring, air quality control, and other functions. The city can thus manage its resources and formulate related regulations based on the information accumulated to build up a smart city with sustainable and intellectual approaches.
