Canadian UV LED Water Disinfection System Developer Receives $2.1 Million Funds from the Government

Acuva Technologies, a Canadian company developing UVC-LED water purification system, announced that it has received CAD 2.1 million (US$ 1.6 million) from the Canadian government.

Access to safe drinking water contributes to improved health, helping reduce the risk of waterborne diseases. However, according to the report of the World Health Organization (2017), a quarter of the world’s population drinks contaminated water, causing over 2.2 million deaths annually. UV LED technology has been used in water purifying devices to sterilize water for improving drinking water source.

With the funds, Acuva intends to speed up its growth and global expansion with its compact and energy efficient UV-LED water treatment technology. Acuva’s customizable UV-LED modules can be easily integrated into consumer and commercial water dispensing appliances.
