Breakthrough: According to Rohinni, Its New Technology Doubles Mini LED Transfer Speed

On January 11, Rohinni announced that its Mini LED transfer technology has made a breakthrough. Thanks to its new bondhead, Mini LED transfer speed has achieved 100Hz (100 times per second), which has been said to be the fastest transfer speed. Compared with its first-generation transfer technology, the new technology has doubled transfer speed and cut in half the cost.

Rohinni has an exclusive manufacturing process which can transfer Mini/Micro LEDs to the substrate efficiently and accurately. During 2016-2019, Rohinni formed joint ventures with three companies to promote Mini/Micro LED applications.

In December 2016, Rohinni partnered with KoJa, a keyboard membrane switch company, and formed a joint venture called Luumii to boost micro-LED based keyboard backlights and logo lighting solutions.

Around September 2018, Rohinni and Magna Electronics established a joint venture called Magna Rohinni Automotive to produce ultra-thin Micro LED lighting solutions.

In December 2019, Rohinni and BOE formed a joint venture called BOE Pixey to co-produce the Micro LED solutions used in display backlighting.

Currently, BOE Pixey focuses on the technology development and production of Mini/Micro LED transfer segment. The transfer speed of this technology can achieve 50 pieces per second. At the same time, high efficiency and accuracy can be ensured.

According to Rohinni, the new technology may help joint ventures in different fields to increase production speed and lower production costs.

In terms of applications, according to Rohinni, OEMs in consumer, automotive and outdoor signage markets can adopt the transfer technology to produce products that are better than the existing ones, realizing higher brightness, lightness and lower power consumption.

According to Rohinni, in 2021, Mini LEDs are expected to be widely adopted in high-end applications such as TV, video wall and consumer electronics (tablet and NB).

Rohinni’s new technology can achieve mass production with lower cost. For consumers, it means price reduction. In general, quick applications of Mini LED can be boosted. Manufacturers can be promoted to come up with new designs in order to encounter the upcoming trend of Mini LED products.
