Pioneer and MooVita, an A*STAR spinoff company focusing on autonomous vehicle, are going to initiate a trial run of an autonomous shuttle bus equipped with Pioneer’s 3D-LiDAR sensor within the campus of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The two companies expect to commercialize the service of the level four autonomous driving with the testing.

MooVita is a startup company which promotes developments of autonomous driving technologies and has developed its autonomous driving business in Malaysia, India and Singapore. Moovita and Pioneer have leveraged their expertise to implement the technologies of 3D-LiDAR sensing and algorithm in self-driving car.
Pioneer has launched trials of in-car LiDAR for self-driving car in 2015 and the current development of its LiDAR technology goes in line with its schedule. Since late September 2018, Pioneer has started shipping its 3D-LiDAR sensors with a different measurement distance and field of view to domestic and international clients. These LiDAR products delivered also serve as data collectors that help Pioneer to develop “Object Detection algorithm” and “Localization algorithm” for further accuracy.
Currently, Pioneer is developing a high-performance, downsized and lower price 3D-LiDAR sensor using a MEMS mirror, aiming for mass production in the 2020s.
