The revenue of AUO for 2Q18 was NT$75.05 billion (US$2.46 billion), up by 0.8% QoQ. According to the company, the price of panels remains weak but AUO has strategically adjusted its portfolio and shifted the focus to high-end and high-margin products to stay profitable.

AUO said the demands for extra-large size panels continue to grow, as well as the gaming market. The company plans to keep its target on niche products and to launch Mini LED gaming monitors or gaming notebooks by Q3 or Q4. The President of AUO, Michael Tsai, said the company is ready with its Mini LED technology and aims to deploy it with mobile phones, notebooks, displays and VR products, to fully realize the performance advantages of Mini LED.

As AUO has unveiled its Micro LED display technology during Display Week 2018, the progress of its Micro LED development has attracted a lot attention. Paul SL Peng, the Chairman of AUO noted that the company is not able to mass produce Micro LED products yet but it has been putting efforts in development and hopes to reach commercialization as soon as possible.
