Audi LED Headlights

The new Audi LED headlights are now available on the A8 and also the sport scar A8.

Audi claims the LED headlights provide the A8 an "unmistakable" appearance even during the day and more so at dusk. The LED headlights, 5500 Kelvin, provide a bright bright light similar to sun light. The natural bright light offers not only better appearance but a safer drive at night

LED headlights are also energy efficient. They consume less power than the leading stock headlights. The LED headlights do not require any maintenance. The headlights will last as long as the car's life.

The low beams form a wing shape light composed of 10 pieces of lens modules. Underneath the wing features 22 white and 22 yellow pieces of LED for daytime running lights and turn signals. The close compilation of LEDs make the headlights appear one whole light from afar.

The high beams (above the wing) are made up of two four-chip LEDs and a surface reflection system. The car's function can switch between low and high beams. More LEDs contribute the corner lights and highway lights. Heat regulated system and fan can eliminated condensation of the heated LEDs.

Tail lights have adopted LED technology completely composing 72 pieces of LEDs. Using the chip-on-board technology, designers are able to assemble so many pieces of LED into one small area.

Tail lights form a trapezoidal shape that appears evenly. Tail lights only use 9 watts per unit. The lower part of the tail light features a texture, reflective surface. The upper part features a light guide. The lower part is thicker because it can lower the center of the A8's tail end.

The brake lights are also inside the trapezoid. Braking firmly will create flashing on the A8's brake lights to warn drivers behind the vehicle. When the vehicle stops the hazard lights are lit up. The LED in the brake lights can be customized to serve as fog lights at the rear of the car.

The A8 also features a bonus LED lighting package. The LEDS can be installed to light up the door pockets, center console, door sill trim, and tunnel. Drivers can customize the brightness of the LED by using the Audi Multimedia Interface.

The LED headlights is getting more and more popular and will sure be the focus for the LED lights for cars .

My very first job in 1990 was with the Street Lighting Division for my local power company as an Electrical Engineering Student Co-Op..... I guess you can say, in the almost 30 years of business experience, I have seen a lot of changes. However, I believe the changes we are currently witnessing now and the pace of technology advancements in the lighting industry, will be the most exciting time period yet.
