As reported by foreign media MacRumors on June 30, Apple Inc. is endeavoring to meet the Mini LED display demand for its recently unveiled 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the to-be-released MacBook Pro products, prompting the tech company to find new suppliers to relieve its burden.
In addition to the existing Taiwanese supplier TSMT, the tech giant is seeking suppliers that are able to mount electronic components onto the Mini-LED display PCB of the said 12.9-inch iPad Pro and MacBook Pro.

Despite the fact that TSMT remains the sole SMT supplier for the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models, it seems that Apple is about to change its mind because the company recognizes that meeting the demand for the two new products may be beyond the capabilities of a single supplier.
After its launch, the M1-powered 12.9-inch iPad Pro has been limited in stock, pushing back the product’s delivery from April to mid- to late- July. Because the global pandemic and chip shortages continue, such delivery delay caused by supply chain disruptions is also likely for the coming MacBook Pro.
Unlike its previous counterparts that come with a conventional LCD or OLED, the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, featuring an M1 chip, is the first model to adopt the Mini-LED-backlit Retina XDR display. The tech company is expected to apply the same display technology to the redesigned MacBook Pro, which is scheduled to be launched later this year. (Source: cnBeta)
