Lextar Reduces Lighting Products and Upgrades Portfolio

LED vertical integration manufacturer Lextar Electronics registered a revenue of NT$ 950 million (US$ 31 million) for July, up by 4.3% MoM and down by 15% YoY. The company said it has adjusted its product portfolio by radically reducing the share of general lighting products and targeting customized LED lighting modules and high power LED for special applications.

The company has been pushing its LED products to markets of stage lighting and commercial lighting. As for novel applications, Lextar has been shipping its UV LED products for curing and UV nail dryers. The supply of LED components to a sport bracelet producer also remains sustained.

For backlight applications, Lextar’s 0.3t LED chips meet the trend of all screen panels in the smartphone market and have been selected by its clients to make high-end mobile phones. Lextar has produced HV LEDs for TVs and outdoor displays for direct type backlight which enables local dimming to reach high contrast.

Lextar has reported that it has worked on Mini LED sample products and expected small production in the second half of 2018.
