Factories in China Hardly Resume Production with Escalating Coronavirus Outbreak

Chinese factories have set their reopen day on February 10, 2020, after the extended Lunar New Year holiday due to coronavirus outbreak. However, since over 80 cities in China have been locked down or with strict community management, labors spreading all over the countries have difficulties returning their position, leading to further impacts on the industry.

Despite that many companies in China began to work remotely since last week, on-site operation still requires labors to go back to the factories. Since the infection has yet to be controlled, large gathering in the factories might lead to further spread of the virus.

Companies with factories in China are thus facing two major challenges, one on the production and the other on how to safely manage the labors.

Comparing to other industry, the delayed production might not bring impacts to the LED industry severely since the inventory level remain high as many of the industry players suffered from business decline last year. Nevertheless, with many Chinese cities closed down, product delivery and logistic might still be affected.
