I’m building some acoustic panels to go in a music studio and they will be back-lit with RGBW strip lights. Three fixtures in total: one fixture with 16ft of lights, and two fixtures with 32ft of lights. They are 24v, 5050SMD, 300 LEDs per roll, 72w per roll.
I’m slightly confused on which is the better option for powering them, constant current or constant voltage. Each fixture will be independently powered and have it’s own remote for independent control.
I’ll be purchasing Meanwell drivers, the fully enclosed kind. I need them to be as silent as possible. The high pitched whine that can emit from some drivers is very bothersome to me. I did read that it was important to size the driver appropriately so that it’s not underpowered, and that can keep it from vibrating and making that high pitched whine.
I know the standard is to oversize so that at full brightness you’re only pulling 80% of the drivers max, but I’m afraid that if I’m only using them at 50% or 75% brightness sometimes, that I may run in to that noise issue. Any suggestions on this would be great.
Thanks!
