Nowadays there is a wide variety of LED strips, available in the market. The most commonly used strips are RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color. By mixing these three colors, any color can be created. The intensity of each color must be controlled, in order to mix the colors and create the desire exit. LED strips are used in lighting design, specifically in coves or building exteriors to create an artistic view and different moods in the space.
Apart from RGB strips there are more colors available in the market, such as cool white or warm white color. Cool white is recommended for using in office or kitchen. Warm white is nice for the living room or TV area. If there is an area used both as TV area or reading, natural white color can be used.
A quite new technology is the RGBW LED strip, which combines the Red, Green and Blue colors with the White color. With this extra fixture, the user can create a clear white color. Previously, that was not possible, as by mixing only the Red, Green and Blue colors the white color is not very clear. This RGBW LED strip consists of two different chips, an RGB SMD5050 chip and a white chip, installed at the strip line and sold as RGBW strip.
Today, an innovative technology of the LED chip 5050, which combines red, green, blue and white colors (RGBW), is available in the market. This chip combines all in one SMD5050 package chip. Unfortunately, as it is the newest technology on LED strips, it is quite expensive. Although it is expected to become the new "must have" in lighting design.
Another brand new technology, relating the LED strips, is the constant current 24V LED strip series. This strip can be installed in longer runs and it has the ability to keep exactly the same brightness, from first to last LED chip, for up to 10 meters in a row. This technology is available for single color or RGB CC strips. They are driven by the usual constant voltage drivers (24V). As it is a new technology, it has higher price than normal CV strips. Although they are reliable, cause of the controlled drive currents, then it worth the money.
Therefore, there are different available colors for LED strips as well as different LED chip technologies. The choice has to be carefully made, according to the special needs of every application.
