Vacancy Sensors and Occupancy Sensors for LED Lighting – Ask a LED Tech Articles

We at TheLEDLight.com love technology. We really love technology when it does something useful. We all know LEDs save us a bunch of energy. But what if you leave a room with the lights on and four hours later you come back into the same room and the lights are still on? Even if those lights are LEDs, you know you made a mistake that you’ve probably made a few times before. Here is the solution. In comes technology. An “Occupancy” Sensor will notice when you walk into the room and turn the lights on. When you leave, it will turn those lights off. It’s particularly useful in rooms you often enter with your arms full. It works great for workshops, laundry rooms and a lot of kitchens. So, what if you have pets? Here is where the occupancy sensor comes into play. For pets and bedrooms, there’s the “Vacancy” Sensor. It requires that you actually turn it on deliberately. When you leave the room, it will turn the lights off. We carry both of these devices at TheLEDLight.com. They can be found on our controls page in the dimmer switches and sensors category. While you’re on the page, you might also like to look at our Lumia LED Dimmers. The Lumia dimmer was specially designed for dimming 120VAC input LED products. Often you can avoid problems like hum and flicker with a dimmer switch compatible with your products. It’s also good to know that if you have already installed an Occupancy Sensor, you can make an adjustment and it becomes a Vacancy Sensor. If you decide later to change it back to Occupancy (automatically turn on) you reverse the adjustment. There is no need to uninstall anything. Isn’t technology grand?
