The idea of LED GU10 bulbs isn’t new. It’s the brightness and colour temperature options that make these high outputs LED bulbs to stand out in the crowd.
GU10 bulbs are typically found in track lighting, ceiling fans, and some kinds of bath bars. The bulb itself has to fit into a relatively small space, and so the GU10 bulbs are only about 2″ x 2″. Developing smaller and brighter LED light bulbs is a challenge for product engineers. Heat has always been public enemy number one for LEDs. Ways and means to dissipate heat at the circuitry level have to be developed and proven over time. Until now, the brightest LED GU10 bulbs we’ve had available to us were about the equivalent of a 35W halogen. Although bright enough for some kinds of ambient lighting applications, 35 watts just didn’t cut it for close up or task lighting. That’s just one of the reasons we’re so delighted with these new LED lights. Packing a powerful 560 lumens, our new LED GU10 bulbs comfortably replace about the equivalent of a 50-watt halogen. Until now, we’ve been limited to just one colour temperature choice. Major LED light bulb producers have been pushing the 3000K warm white bulbs down our throats. It seems that the thinking is that consumers don’t know about colour temperature and want what they’re used to in an incandescent bulb. That may have had some validity back in the late 90’s when the white LED had a bluish tinge to it. Not so today! Consumers are LED savvy. You understand terms like lumens and CCT now, and you want a choice. Now you have it. Our new LED GU10 bulbs are produced in both 3000K warm white and 5000K cool white. The warm white LEDs are slightly less bright at 520 lumens. Those are best where you want those warm tones either in a bath fixture that you use for applying makeup or in rooms where the colour hues are warm. 5000K cool white, on the other hand, is superb for your dimmable LED track lighting fixtures, particularly when the objects you are highlighting are things like glass and crystal. 5000K cool white will also project a clean, clear light on the surface of a work area for example. Talk to me about the money you say? OK. Consider a few facts: o Our LED GU10 bulbs consume only 7 watts. That’s only 14% of your original halogen bulbs. Do the math – you save up to 86%. o Longevity – One of the main reasons our customers come to us for LED light bulbs of all kinds is short lifespan. Some report having to change halogen bulbs as often as every two to three months. LED light bulbs offer a life expectancy of at least 25,000 hours. That’s three years if you burned a LED bulb 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That’s not ordinary usage though. Most of us wouldn’t do that. If you used a LED light bulb every day for 8 hours, we’re talking a 9-year life span. o Initial cost – Our new 50-watt equivalent LED GU10 bulbs are actually priced about $5 lower than the 35-watt equivalent bulbs we carried earlier.
