Those of you who travel frequently may have had a luxurious experience in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Instead of entering a tight space inside the door, squeezing past a flight attendant and heading your way through the crowded aisles in coach, much to your delight, you entered into a spacious foyer where two arches curve up into a ceiling that seems to disappear in a bright morning sky. What’s more, throughout your flight you notice a change in the brightness and colour of the cabin lighting. It seems as if you experienced a full spectrum of morning light, dusk, and nighttime. How is this accomplished? With LED lights. There are two approaches you can take to create a lighting design of your own at home or business. Dimming 12 or 24VDC LED lights can be accomplished with a low voltage dimmer or RGB colour controllers. Which approach is best for you depends on exactly what you want to do.
Let’s say for example, that you want to create a warm atmosphere in a dining room. Installing white and either red or amber flexible LED strips on two circuits side by side, controlled with low voltage dimmers for LEDs, you can create a perfect combination of the two for the ambience you desire. Or, if you want to create a soothing or relaxing atmosphere in a family room, choose white paired with either green or blue. You may want to have a look at our recent blog on colours and their meaning. Our low voltage dimmers are an economical and effective dimming solution for your cove lighting with LEDs. Adjustment range is from pale moon glow through full brightness and the constant colour temperature is maintained throughout the entire dimming cycle. A solid colour paired with white is also an economical choice when you have definite theme colours to maintain in a space. As an added plus, Zane low voltage dimmers and other low voltage controls are made right here in the USA. We’ve trusted the name Zane for 15 years. You can too.
When you want to have an option to change the colors in the room, RGB color changing flexible LED strip allows almost limitless possibilities. Say, for example, you want to add an orange highlight to upper walls or ceilings to enhance productivity in a commercial space. Or perhaps you have a retail environment and would like to change colours with the seasons. RGB colour controllers allow you to select shades and tones and some also have the ability to control a se per ate length of white flexible LED strip. Installation can be a bit more complex and initial equipment cost a bit more, especially if you are planning to use DMX colour controllers which are much more precise. If you are considering such an installation, we can walk you through it and may even be able to recommend a professional installer in your location. Many of our customers are highly qualified contractors with the knowledge and experience needed even for the most complex installations. That’s a question you’ll want to ask of any installer you choose … have you worked with LEDs before? You may be surprised to find that many have not. Although there is always a first time for everyone, it’s a comfort to trust in experience. As always, we’re here to answer your questions and guide you in all of your lighting projects.
