Agricultural Lighting Company ONCE® Acquires iLOX®


The U.S. based company, ONCE®, which provides animal-centric lighting systems for agriculture applications, has reported its acquisition of a German company iLOX® and its Polish subsidiary which develops lighting solutions for livestock facilities. Sharing the focus on improving the welfare of animals, the two companies expect to integrate their resources to create innovate lighting technology for agriculture.

Through integrating the animal-centric technologies of ONCE® and solid electronic design skills from iLOX®, Zdenko Grajcar, CEO and founder of ONCE®, considered the acquisition will push the company to lead the agriculture lighting market with the spotlight on the well-being of livestock.

ONCE® has shown that the designed spectrum and modulation of light can reduce animals stress level and enhance their performance with significant effect. For example, researchers from the company found that adding an UV-A spectrum into animal housing lighting results in reduction of stress level for poultry. The company is looking forward to the marketing expansion in Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa after acquiring iLOX®.
